The Cane Webbing Tool is used to install rattan cane webbing, also known as pressed cane or pre-woven cane. It's designed to gently press the cane into the groove using either the flat edge or the curved edge. The working end is tapered to allow it to be pushed to the bottom of the groove and is rounded to reduce the risk of breaking the cane. The flat edge has a slightly rounded corner to gently work the cane into corners without breaking it with a sharp edge.

This is made in our own workshop with a hardwood handle and an acrylic tool end that won't rust or leave marks on the cane. The wood is finished with shellac for a smooth finish.

Perfect learning tool...

I'm new to caning and trying to learn with wedges was not going so well. Despite soaking much longer than recommended I still manged to break the cane with the sharp wedge edges. This tool has been a game-changer and I'm now much less disheartened at the prospect of getting better at this. As they say, work smarter, not harder and this tool is definitely the "smart" way of installing pressed cane.

Right Tool for the Job

I have not actually used the tool yet but am a firm believer in having the right tool for the job will achieve a successful outcome. I’ve watched many videos on replacing cane and the Wooden It Be Nice tutorials are the best. I’m looking forward to using this well crafted tool on my project.
